Welcome to the University of New South Wales, one of Australia's leading research and teaching universities. UNSW is also one of Australia's foremost international universities, attracting outstanding scholars and students from around the world. The University's broad range and high quality of teaching programs gain strength and currency from our research activities and our international nature. Many of our best teachers are also outstanding researchers, so students at UNSW learn not only the latest concepts and facts but also the flexible, evaluative and adaptive methods that underpin the research process. Many UNSW graduates have become leaders in government, business, research, and industry, both in Australia and overseas.
Our research benefits society in many ways: socially, economically, artistically and culturally. We work closely with many professions and whether through health care, engineering, science, the law, management and business, architecture or the arts and social sciences, our University influences society at the local, national, regional, and international levels.
We are proud of the quality of our students, some of the best that Australia offers, and we also attract a diverse cohort of international students from 177 countries. We offer opportunities for study in Asia, North America and Europe through one of Australia's largest international exchange programs.
UNSW has a strong regional and global engagement. Our more than 180,000 alumni, many scattered throughout the world in influential positions, are a testament to UNSW's excellence in teaching and research.
In developing new ideas and promoting lasting knowledge we are creating an academic environment where outstanding students and scholars can be inspired to excel in their programs of study and research. I encourage you to explore the UNSW website so you can find out more about what we do.
