NAME: Tony Skegro
CLASS OF: 1995
MEMORY OF UNSW:
What I remember about UNSW is at lunch times sitting on the library lawn, after a cheap meal at the Science Cafeteria, listening to a band or discussing everything under the sun with fellow students.
NAME: Michael Middleton
CLASS OF: 1968, 1970, 1973 &1980
MEMORY OF UNSW:
What I remember about UNSW is the Village Green (sanctuary among the building blocks) which provided many happy memories, playing this and that - and one painful memory: snapping my Achilles tendon at hockey. I thought I’d been ankle-chopped and went down in a screaming heap. My teammates assured me it was self-inflicted!
NAME: Dr. Surendran (Aka Suri)
CLASS OF: 1974
MEMORY OF UNSW:
"Anatomy tutorials & the 3 Stooges"
Tuesday afternoon tutorials were always punctuated at around 3 pm for a "stooges" break at the Golf House! The Golf House TV room was packed during the screening of the 3 stooges - anatomy tutorial groups (unbeknown to Prof. Arnold, I am sure) rain for shine, never missed this weekly session!

NAME: Fred Oala
CLASS OF: 1999
MEMORY OF UNSW:
My son often pronounced UNSW as "wines..w", my own interpretation/translation of his pronunciation was, and still is "NSW...Winners World" UN (win) S (es) W (world)
NAME: Dr. John Frith
CLASS OF: 1973, 1976 & 1994 x2
MEMORY OF UNSW:
As a 3rd year medical student in 1971, I joined the hippie fad of wearing a leather headband. A Professor of Physiology said to me in scorn: "What’s that for? to keep your brains in?"
"No", I said, "To stimulate it, keep it awake, and help get me through this lab!"

NAME: Leonie Short
CLASS OF: 1987
MEMORY OF UNSW:
Whilst I was studying at UNSW in 1986, I took the opportunity of having 6 lessons in stroke improvement for my swimming. Many people comment on how well I swim and what a good stroke I have. As these are the only lessons I have ever taken in swimming, I take pride in telling people that I owe it to the "instructor at UNSW!"
NAME: Mary Westbrook
CLASS OF: 1989
MEMORY OF UNSW:
I was a mature age student in the School of Medical Education in 1987-88. I remember developing friendships with people from many parts of the world. I remember the informal atmosphere of the School. The teaching Staff had a real enthusiasm and practiced what they taught in their use of participatory teaching methods.
NAME: Robert Carline
CLASS OF: 1976 &1977
MEMORY OF UNSW:
What I remember about UNSW is its diversity from the Wizard on the Library Lawn, Orientation days with fairy floss being sold by "real" fairies, (at a time when you could be humorous, without worrying about being politically incorrect), watching Batman re-runs en masse in the theatre, bizarre ironman contests, Bacchus Balls, long tutorials at the "Decline of Western Civilisation " Winebar and of course the friends, camaraderie and learning experience that made this a special time.

NAME: Edmond Stockton
CLASS OF: 1971
MEMORY OF UNSW:
What I remember about UNSW is going to the Engineering Construction night classes in the middle 1960’s. Visiting Lecturer Jim Antill brought a lively style aswell as academic and practical expertise. Jim always wanted to get home on time for Mavis Bramston on TV. For my part I found Jim more illuminating than Mavis.
NAME: Phillip Middleton
CLASS OF: 1975 & 1978
MEMORY OF UNSW:
I will always remember how scary it was being stuck between hungry students and the first trolleys of food at staff/student cocktails in the Round House. Not many staff turned up but it helped spend the Commerce Society’s embarrassing bank balance.
