UNSW Workplace Giving Program

Workplace giving is a Government endorsed, simple and effective way for employees to regularly donate, pre-tax to UNSW to help the community at large. You can simply donate through automated payroll deductions and can pledge to UNSW a pre-tax amount on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis.

Tax Information

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is endorsed as a deductible gift recipient (DGR) by the Australian Taxation Office under item 1 of section 30-15 (Subdivision 30-BA) of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997.

The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is also endorsed as an income tax exempt charitable entity (ITEC) under Subdivision 50-B of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997 as Item 1.1 – charitable institution.

Donations to UNSW of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia. All donors are issued with a receipt. Recurrent donors receive an annual statement from UNSW at 30 June each. All donors and prospective donors may wish to seek independent advice.

Scholarships, Awards and Prizes

Your gift to establish a Scholarship, Award or Prize at UNSW recognises student achievement in academic, artistic, athletic or other fields of endeavour. Through your support of these initiatives, you help UNSW to attract exceptional students to our University. Most importantly, scholarships in particular can enable students with disadvantages to fulfill their dreams. UNSW is committed to a diverse student body, which respects aspirations and ability above economic circumstances.

  • Each year almost 2000 students receive scholarships at UNSW. University wide there are 350 different scholarships on offer valued at over $10 million.
  • Annually 620 prizes are awarded across the University valued at over $330,000
You can establish a Scholarship, Award or Prize in your area of interest, in the faculty where you studied while at UNSW, in memory of a loved one, or to support a cause that you feel passionately about.

Scholarships, Awards & Prizes can be established in any of the Faculties at UNSW and can be for an undergraduate or post-graduate student.

If you prefer not to establish a new scholarship or award, but would like to support students at UNSW, UNSW has general funds that support scholarships in specific areas such as Indigenous education, rural isolation and research excellence which your contribution could support.

Volunteers

The UNSW Volunteers Program helps the University by involving alumni and the wider University community in its efforts. Supported by the UNSW Alumni Association, the Volunteer Program is administered through the UNSW Foundation.
