UNSW has a long history of providing business and government with research and academic expertise across a broad range of disciplines and commercial activities. The University draws together a wide diversity of knowledge, from around Australia and internationally, to offer government and business a one-stop shop for everything from specific problem-solving to IP development, transfer and commercialisation.

In August 2005 the University separated its commercialisation and consulting businesses. NewSouth Innovations focuses on commercialisation opportunities for research undertaken at UNSW. The University’s consulting business is now provided by UNSW Global Consulting, a division of UNSW Global.
