Assumed Knowledge
UNSW assumes that a prospective student has an Assumed Knowledge of specified HSC subjects or equivalent before they begin studying at UNSW. If they do not have this standard then they are strongly advised to undertake a Bridging Program.

Faculties
Often faculties organise information sessions for prospective students as well as information sessions on HSC subjects. You might like to look at the following faculties and explore the School links for further information on programs and HSC activities.

- Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
- Music and Dance degrees both require an audition.
- GERRIC, The Gifted Education Research Resource and Information Centre. This Centre has information for teachers and gifted students and their parents. Courses are offered in the January and July holidays for gifted students. Teachers are also able to gain professional education and resources through the Centre.
- Faculty of the Built Environment. The AGL Sustainable Living Competition is a national competition which rewards High School students for environmental projects. It is open to high students in years 7-12.
- College of Fine Arts
- Australian School of Business. To apply for the B Commerce (Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality) a student must also complete the interview application form as well as applying through the Universities Admissions Centre. Applications normally close in mid November. For further information, go to the School of Marketing's website.
- Faculty of Engineering. During the year the Engineering Faculty also holds information areas around the state.
- Faculty of Law
- Faculty of Medicine. Please note the new admission procedures for Medicine.
