Choosing a university degree can seem challenging, but you can ensure the decision-making process is easier by taking a step-by-step approach to finding the right degree for you.

Talk

Start by thinking about your strengths, interests, hobbies and the subjects you enjoyed at school. With this in mind, speak with plenty of people to help you think about which degree and subjects can turn these strengths into a career. You can talk to people like your careers advisor, family, friends and teachers. Also consider talking to people in the industry or profession that interests you.

Research

Gather as much information as you can about the degrees and subjects you are considering and the opportunities for careers. A good place to start is with UNSW faculties.

Speak with current students to give you the best idea of what the degree that interests you is like and the opportunities it can give you. Current students can also help you understand what university life is like.  Ask the Student Recruitment Office to put you in touch with a current student studying the degree that you are considering by calling +61 2 9385 1844.

Attend

Finally, be sure to attend UNSW events to learn more about what we can offer you. UNSW Open Day and UNSW Info Day are great opportunities to speak with faculty representatives, meet students and get a feel for the campus. You can also book a one-hour campus tour  tailored specifically for you to discover the information that you need.

Our Student Recruitment Office can help you think about which degrees take you to where you want to be, put you in touch with current students and give you details about the upcoming UNSW event – call us on +61 2 9385 1844 or email studentrecruitment@unsw.edu.au.
