Transferring If you have not received an offer for your preferred degree at UNSW this year, you may have chosen to accept an offer into another degree at UNSW or another university. To have your university studies considered for admission purposes, you must complete a minimum of 0.75 years of full time study (equivalent to 36 units of credit at UNSW) at university.
Credit for course work/subjects completed at another institution is something you can discuss with your faculty once you have been offered a place. Credit would depend on whether the subjects undertaken are considered equivalent to courses in the UNSW program in which you have been offered a place. ![]() Admissions Office (UNSW)

Insufficient Qualifications For Your Preferred Degree Admission to UNSW is based on academic merit so we recommend a number of alternative entry pathways to the University of New South Wales.
You may want to look at starting a different degree at UNSW or another university and reapplying after one year. If you complete at least 1 year of full time study at another university, then these results will be considered in your application along with your UAI. You may also want to look at completing a AQF Certificate IV, Diploma or Advanced Diploma at TAFE or a Private Provider in a relevant area as outlined below. TAFE and Private Provider Qualifications UNSW accepts completed TAFE and Private Provider qualifications including AQF Advanced Diploma, Diploma, Associate Diploma or Certificate Level IV. However, due to the high demand for places in most programs, successful applicants generally require a credit or above average with no failures. Trade certificates are not acceptable for admission purposes.
If you have completed any of the above qualifications, you can apply to UNSW through UAC at www.uac.edu.au Admissions Office (UNSW)
