What is it like to be a UNSW student? Is it different to high school?

  • Have a look at the beginners guide to studying at university which shows you how to manage your academic and social life as a student.

  • What is Arc?
    Arc provides a vast array of services, products, programs and entertainment for students. All student life is here!

  • Orientation Week is held the week before uni begins and will help you become familiar with campus life. It is organised by the Yellow Shirts, volunteer students who help out new students.

  • You can also talk to current students via the OWeek forum

  • Life can be daunting when you start as a student. The Counselling Service and Compass Programs can help you to adjust to university life.  

  • The Nura Gili Indigenous Programs Centre offers support for Indigenous students while studying at UNSW. It also offers support with Indigenous pre-programs, and entry to UNSW.

  • Some programs have rural entry schemes. There are also other rural support services, for further details: http://www.ruralstudents.unsw.edu.au

  • If you are an International Student there is further information to help you to adjust to life at UNSW and in Sydney.

  • Smart Start Orientation has been developed to provide you with skills and information to help you succeed at university. Smart Start is held every February as part of OWeek.   • The ACCESS Scheme provides alternative entry for local students who have experienced long-term educational disadvantage in years 11 and 12.
