An explanation of application stages
Your application to study at UNSW may be put into one of the following stages:
APPLICATION – this is the default stage for all applications that have been received by UNSW. It means that your application has been registered on the admissions database and is in the process of being assessed to see whether you are eligible to be made an offer to study.
WAITLIST – this stage is associated with applications that the University is currently unable to assess. If your application has this status, you should look at the Missing Requirements information page to see what you must send to the Admissions Office to allow your application to proceed. Please note, if you are being asked to provide information that is not yet available, for transcripts of your final year’s study for example, you should provide this as soon as it becomes available. Your application will be kept on hold until these documents are received.
CONDITIONAL ADMIT – this indicates you have been conditionally approved for admission to UNSW subject to supplying evidence of any required conditions. This can be one or more of a number of things including, anticipated academic results (with evidence of completion), English Proficiency, a copy of favourable Pre-Visa Assessment, correctly certified documents and any other matter preventing a full unconditional offer to be issued.
Once you are in the position of meeting all conditions and can provide all necessary documentation, you may commence the acceptance process outlined in your letter of offer.
Please note that Conditional Offers may not be available for all programs or made to all applicants.
ADMIT – this means that you have been made an offer to study. Congratulations. Please check the Missing Requirements page to see if you are required to provide additional information to complete your application. Please also check the Program that you have been made an offer for – you may have been offered a higher or a lower program than the one you applied for. Further details will be contained in the offer letter you have been sent
PROGRAM CHANGE – your request for a change of academic program has been approved.
PLAN CHANGE – your request for a change of academic specialisation or plan has been approved.
DATA CHANGE - indicates that your request to defer the start of your studies has been received and is currently being processed. If your request is approved, your record wil be updated to show the status DEFER ENROLMENT.
DEFER ENROLMENT – where the Admissions Office has approved the deferral of an offer to study to the next available enrolment period.
INTENTION TO MATRICULATE – this means that you have accepted your offer online. Once your acceptance is confirmed and processed, your status will be changed to matriculation (see below).
MATRICULATION – this indicates that your acceptance of offer has been confirmed and a student record has been created for you. You will be contacted before the commencement of your first session of study with details on how to enrol in your program and other information.
DENY – unfortunately, you have been unsuccessful in your application for this particular program. Further information about this is contained in the written notification of this decision sent to you by the Admissions Office.
RECONSIDERATION – this indicates that you are being reconsidered for an offer to study.
ADMINISTRATIVE WITHDRAWAL – your application has been cancelled by Admissions Office staff.
APPLICANT WITHDRAWAL – your application has been cancelled by Admissions Office staff, at your request.
