More Students Want to Attend UNSW

0th December

More students want to attend the University of New South Wales than any other tertiary institution in the State, according to the 2002 Sydney Morning Herald Good Universities Guide.

UNSW retains its ranking in the prestigious guide as the State's top university, with a perfect five stars again being awarded in the areas of student demand, prestige, non-government earnings, research quantum, staff-student ratios, graduate starting salaries, cultural diversity and international enrolments. It moves from four to five stars for the "getting a job" category.

UNSW is the only NSW institution to achieve a five-star rating for student demand and is well ahead of its nearest rival, the University of Sydney, in overall rankings, with 11 five star rankings to Sydney's six. Both universities rated in the top category for prestige, which is based on the level of demand for places, success in attracting research grants, and success in the international market.

The Good Universities Guide features detailed profiles of every university in Australia as well as other institutions offering degree level courses. Institutions are ranked against a number of criteria in key performance areas and individual courses offered at the various institutions are also compared.

UNSW will hold its annual Courses and Careers Day for prospective students on Saturday, 1 September.
