UNSW OFFERS LITERARY FELLOWSHIP

The University of New South Wales is offering a Literary Fellowship to a distinguished writer who would benefit from spending time at the University, and who would contribute to University life.

Funded by the University's volunteer U Committee, the Fellowship is awarded every two years to a distinguished writer in any field, preferably with a work in progress.

The Fellowship is for a minimum of two months, either full-time or extended part-time. The Fellow will receive $12,000 and is expected to provide a report on his or her tenure and an acknowledgement of the Fellowship in any resulting publication.

The current UNSW Literary Fellow is Kate Grenville. Previous Fellows have included Les Murray, Alex Buzo, John Derum, Oodgeroo Noonuccal (formerly Kath Walker), David Foster and Sue Woolfe.

The 2002-2003 Fellow will be announced in April 2002 during the U Committee's regular two-yearly Book Fair.

Nominations of Fellows should include the following information:
i. The nominee's curriculum vitae and list of publications or other creative works;
ii. An outline of the nature of the proposed work to be undertaken and;
iii. Suggestions for involvement in the life of the University during the period of residence.

Nominations should be sent to the Office of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education), The Chancellery Building, UNSW SYDNEY, NSW, 2052. They should be received by 28 February 2002.
