UNSW Student Named Engineering Student of the Year

0th December

The Institution of Engineers Australia has named UNSW Civil Engineering student Tristan McWilliam as the 2001 Engineering Student of the Year.

The award is presented for excellence in industrial training, and recognised Tristan's involvement as a trainee in engineering projects such as the Northside Storage Tunnel, and the Walsh Bay Development, as well as his work with the Decision Support Team at the Sydney Olympic Games.

"My industrial training has provided me with a broad knowledge base from which I will be able to enter graduate employment with confidence. The training has provided me with some of the most rewarding times of my degree," Tristan said.

Eight students from the UNSW School of Civil and Environmental Engineering have been honoured with the Institute's Student of the Year award in the nine years since it was inaugurated.
