RUGBY KICKS A UNI GOAL

0th December

A scholarship that will encourage future generations of rugby union players to study at university was launched at the University of New South Wales last night.

According to Director of Public Affairs and Development at the University of New South Wales, Paul Nicolaou, the Randwick Rugby Club/St Hillers Scholarship marks the first time that a sporting organisation and a private building company has established a scholarship of this nature at UNSW.

"This scholarship demonstrates a long-term commitment on the part of the Randwick Rugby Club, which is well known for the outstanding quality of the sports people it has produced over the years," Mr Nicolaou said.

Managing Director of St Hilliers, Tim Casey, said the recipients of the scholarship will be team players and it is the attributes associated with such individuals that are fundamental to successful business enterprises. "St Hilliers is therefore proud to be part of the Randwick Rugby/UNSW Team in establishing the Scholarship," Mr Casey said.

The scholarship will assist students who are proposing to play for Randwick District Rugby Union Football Club and wish to undertake an undergraduate program offered by the Faculty of Built Environment or the Faculty of Commerce and Economics at the University.

'Scholarships of this nature play a pivotal role in ensuring that students who want to study and play competitive sport have the financial support during this period in their lives," said Ian North, Club President of the Randwick Rugby Club.
