UNSW Spanish Agreement
0th December
UNSW, the Embassy of Spain and the University of Sydney have joined forces to provide a coordinated and comprehensive approach to teaching Spanish language and culture courses at a tertiary level.
On 17 October the three groups signed an agreement which recognises UNSW's leadership in the provision of Spanish language teaching and promotes a collaborative partnership between the Spanish Government and the two leading Australian Universities.
Although a verbal agreement already existed, under the formal partnership UNSW will receive remuneration for providing the syllabus and some teaching staff for the Spanish Language courses at Sydney University, Spanish language students at Sydney University will be encouraged to enrol cross-institutionally at UNSW, and the Spanish Education Office of the Embassy of Spain will provide an additional part time tutor for both universities.
"This agreement acknowledges that UNSW remains the only university in NSW that provides a comprehensive education in Spanish language, linguistics, literature and history," said Ms Carmen Cabot, head of the UNSW Department of Spanish and Latin American Studies.
