The Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) has farewelled its latest crop of uniquely qualified young Australians.

Almost 200 undergraduates, who have also trained to be military officers, were awarded UNSW Bachelor degrees after successfully completing three years of study. There were also 245 postgraduate awards made to a wide range of students including military and civilian Defence personnel and international students.

“I am very proud of the achievements of the Graduating Class and I have every confidence that these high quality, well rounded, talented ADFA graduates will make outstanding leaders in the Navy, Army and Air Force,” said the Academy’s Commandant, Air Commodore Julie Hammer.

Science honours graduate Adam Easton was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship for 2003, the third ADFA graduate in three years to receive the prestigious award. Three honours degree students also received a University Medal.

The graduation ceremonies were an opportunity for the Academy to welcome UNSW Vice-Chancellor Professor Rory Hume, who was attending his first ADFA graduation and who gave the occasional address to the humanities and social sciences graduates.
