The complexity of China’s burgeoning economy is the subject of a two-day conference at UNSW this week.
The Centre for Chinese Studies (CCS) is holding its annual conference on 9 and 10 December 2002. "Towards a Chinese enterprise model – Chinese enterprises and their institutional environment" is bringing together scholars involved in China-related research and teaching from UNSW and other universities.
CCS director Associate Professor Hans Hendrischke, who is head of UNSW’s Department of Chinese and Indonesian Studies, says that the conference is designed to combine basic research, by China scholars, into Chinese business structures with applied research into Chinese taxation, corporate governance and multinational companies operating in China.
Speakers come from a wide range of disciplines including politics, law, marketing, social policy, banking and finance and management. They include Professor Barbara Krug of the Department of Organization and Personnel Management, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (Netherlands); Dr. Chris McNally from the East West Center, Hawaii; Professor Yuri Gbrich and Nolan Sharkey from ATAX (UNSW) and Professor Steve Frenkel from the Australian Graduate School of Management (UNSW and University of Sydney).
The conference is open to the academic public.
More information on the conference is available on the website.
