Vice-Chancellor’s Inaugural Address

Professor Rory Hume will deliver his inaugural address as Vice-Chancellor of the University of New South Wales this Wednesday evening, in the Clancy auditorium.
In his public lecture, entitled Crossroads and Beyond: Building Great Research Universities, Professor Hume will trace the growth of the modern university, focusing particularly on the development of research institutions. Drawing on his experience as an academic and administrator both here and in the United States, he will outline what he believes is the way forward for Australia’s universities and for UNSW.
Professor Hume became Vice - Chancellor of UNSW in July this year. A former Dean of Dentistry at the University of Sydney, he most recently served for four years as Executive Vice-Chancellor of UCLA.
The lecture begins at 6pm. It is open to members of the public, as well as all staff and students.
