UNSW Press
The University's book publishing arm, UNSW Press, recently celebrated 40 years in the business with a reception at the Scientia.

Among those attending the function were authors, editors, designers, printers and booksellers. One of the Press's most distinguished authors, Emeritus Professor Patrick O'Farrell, was guest speaker.

Managing Director Dr Robin Derricourt reminded guests that, of the Australian publishers operating in 1962, almost the only imprints remaining today are the four university presses - Melbourne, Western Australia, Queensland and New South Wales. Vice-Chancellor Professor Rory Hume noted that the University reaches out to a wide national and international audience through its Press.

Coinciding with the event was the release of a bibliography that documents the origins of UNSW Press and lists over 700 publications from the last 40 years. A special exhibition highlighting the history of the Press is being staged this week in the main entrance to the UNSW library.
