Reserve Bank Governor opens finance and banking conference

The conference, the largest of its kind in the region, is hosted by the School of Banking and Finance and the Asia Pacific Financial Research Centre, both part of the Faculty of Commerce and Economics at UNSW.
The program features keynote addresses and business forums with leading local and international financial analysts. Conference highlights include:

Keynote addresses: Professor Kenneth French, Dartmouth University, ‘Complete agreement, tastes and assets pricing’; Professor Jay Ritter, University of Florida, ‘Economic growth and equity returns’; Professor Anthony Saunders, New York University, ‘The loan market versus the bond market’, and Professor Giorgio Szego, University of Rome, ‘Financial risk and regulations’.
Special business forum: The future of Australia’s funds management (9am – 12noon, Wednesday 17 December) Roundtable discussion with senior executives from Vanguard Investments, TechInvest, JP Morgan Investor Services and Axiss Australia; presentations by Professor Kenneth French, ‘Market timing in funds management’; Professor Jay Ritter, ‘Passive versus active funds management’, and the head of the NSW Department of State and Regional Development, Loftus Harris, ‘Business opportunities for funds management in NSW’.
Conference dinner speaker: Trevor Rowe, Chairman of Citigroup Investment Banking, ‘Challenges of global financial services’ (7pm, Thursday 18 December).
