World AIDS Day seminar: challenges and debates in HIV/AIDS

The University of New South Wales is hosting a seminar on the current challenges and debates in HIV/AIDS to mark World AIDS Day.

The seminar, to be chaired by Professor Peter Baume, is organised by UNSW's School of Public Health and Community Medicine and the National Centre in HIV Social Research, which is based at UNSW.

Speakers include:

  • Professor John Kaldor, National Centre in HIV Epidemiology and Clinical Research, UNSW: Emerging AIDS epidemics of the Asia Pacific Region
  • Mr Don Baxter, Australian Federation of AIDS Organisations: Challenges in revitalising Australia's response, 20 years on
  • Professor Sue Kippax, National Centre in HIV Social Research, UNSW: The prevention-treatment nexus: challenges for sustaining safe sex
  • Mr Edward Reis, Australasian Society of HIV Medicine: Challenges of delivering HIV therapies in the developing world
  • Professor Maurice Eisenbruch, Centre for Culture and Health, UNSW: Cultural perspectives in HIV/AIDS
  • Dr Heather Worth, National Centre in HIV Social Research, UNSW: Political economy of HIV
