Cinema-goers in Sydney's George Street will be treated to a 12-hour video show by architecture students from the Faculty of the Built Environment over the next two days.
On the elevated movie screen on top of the Metro Theatre will be animations highlighting UNSW, the Faculty of the Built Environment and the Architecture Program.
The visual extravaganza is part of the student's graduation exhibition, Luna, which will be showcased inside the Metro.
It includes a diverse selection of design programs, sites, spatial expressions, theoretical explorations, ecologies and typologies.
The animated video, running from 4pm Monday until 4am Tuesday and then over the same hours on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, was made by Architecture students Michael Lam and William Yeung. It illustrates student design projects while sharing the educational experience of students in the design studio.
Initiated and organised entirely by the graduating student community, Luna "celebrates the intellectual camaraderie that exists between students and staff in architectural education," says the program's joint design stream leader, Dr Paul-Alan Johnson.
"It really affirms innovation, courage, community and excellence as distinctive UNSW qualities," says the program's other joint design stream leader, Ann Quinlan. "We are privileged to work with such talented students in the five years of the Architecture program."
