Professor Reg Lord will deliver the prestigious Kinmonth Lecture in Britain today and, at the same event, will be awarded the 2003 John Kinmonth Medal.
Professor Lord, of the UNSW Faculty of Medicine and head of the department of surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, will give the 21st John Kinmonth Memorial Lecture of the Royal College of Surgeons of England at the annual meeting of the Society of Vascular Surgery of Great Britain and Ireland.
The lecture honours John Kinmonth, who was Professor of Surgery at St Thomas’ Hospital, London from 1955 until shortly before his death in 1982.
Professor Lord’s speech is called Carotid Disease and the Burden of Proof. The lecture will apply the results of evidence-based medicine to the diagnosis of management of carotid stenosis, and includes some of Professor Lord’s original work as well as his participation in major trials.
