Allan Gyngell, executive director of the Lowy Institute for International Policy and former foreign policy advisor to Paul Keating, will present a guest lecture at the University on Thursday 16 October.

The UNSW United Nations Society is hosting the lecture, entitled Australian foreign policy in a changing world.

Gyngell is the co-author with Dr Michael Wesley, from the UNSW School of Politics and International Relations, of the recently published book Making Australian Foreign Policy.

The book discusses the processes and players involved in foreign policy making in Australia, and how these have changed under the impact of globalisation. It draws on the first-ever survey of how Australian foreign affairs officials think about the world, and speculates on the challenges ahead.
