On the money: world experts at finance conference

Some of the world’s leading financial analysts are in Sydney for the 17th Australasian Finance and Banking Conference, which is being hosted by UNSW’s Faculty of Commerce and Economics.

The conference is the largest of its type in the Asia-Pacific and one of the three top finance events in the world.

Among the keynote speakers are Professor Raghuram Rajan, the Economic Counsellor and Director of Research of the International Monetary Fund; Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Board, Professor Allen Berger and UNSW Scientia Professor Peter Swan, who is an Australian Professorial Fellow in the School of Banking and Finance.

One of the conference highlights is a Business Forum, Challenges and Opportunities for Financial Services in the Asia Pacific region, where participants will hear from two of the keynote speakers as well as the Reserve Bank’s Rick Battellino.

The conference, which runs from Wednesday to Friday this week (15-17 December), was opened by the NSW Treasurer, Michael Egan.
