The Movements of Passion: 100 Years of Margaret Barr Dance-Drama Festival opens tonight (Wednesday 13 October) at the Figtree Theatre. The festival will celebrate Margaret Barr’s contribution as a dancer, choreographer and teacher.
Students from the School of Theatre, Film and Dance are involved in the production incorporating film screenings and dance-drama programs created by Margaret Barr and filmed with her collaboration. UNSW student and professional dancer, David Klooster, is one of the principal dancers in the performance works.
“Driven by her passion for social justice Margaret Barr has left a legacy of profound and imaginative dance,” says Sil-Nyin Cameron, Festival Co-ordinator.
The opening night will include a screening of the AFI award winning film, Climbers, and a documentary, Margaret Barr.
