A delegation of Provosts from the Association of American Universities (AAU) visited UNSW last week as part of an initiative to strengthen ties between Australian research intensive universities and the AAU.

AAU delegates met with the Vice-Chancellor Professor Mark Wainwright, senior management executives and academics on Monday 17 October. The delegation also toured the iCinema Centre for Interactive Cinema Research and the Centre for Quantum Computer Technology.

“I am very pleased to have this opportunity to meet with this distinguished delegation from the AAU,” Professor Wainwright said. “The talks have been most productive in exploring opportunities for research collaboration and student exchange between our universities and I look forward to pursuing these initiatives with my colleagues from the AAU.”

The AAU delegation was led by Dr Deborah Freund, an internationally recognised health economist, Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost of Syracuse University in New York State.

The tour was coordinated by the Group of Eight, an organisation representing Australia’s eight leading research intensive universities.
