UNSW’s newly established Graduate Research School opens for business today.

The School will deliver, under one structure, the full range of services required to support the postgraduate research community at UNSW including research students, academic supervisors and all schools and faculties.

The range of services includes: administration of all aspects of research student candidature; scholarships; thesis examination; recruitment; information seminars; training programs; and advice to potential and current students.

Located in the Rupert Myers Building, the School is part of the UNSW Research Precinct along with UNSW Research Services and NewSouth Innovations.

The Dean of Graduate Research, Professor Margaret Harding, said: “The centralisation of all aspects of postgraduate management and training in the Graduate Research School will allow integration of students into the research community, and allow identification and implementation of best practice across the University.”

The School will also provide a central hub for social events and networking opportunities and maintain a strong working relationship with the postgraduate student body, the Postgraduate Board.

A formal opening for the School will be held on 5 December.
