Balancing the books
One of the world’s most prestigious finance events, the Australasian Finance and Banking Conference, organised by UNSW's Faculty of Business, will be held in Sydney this week.

Hundreds of economists from around the world will take part in the three-day conference with keynote presentations by leading academics Professor Christopher James from the University of Florida, Professor Florence Lopez-de-Silanes from the University of Amsterdam, Professor Ronald Masulis from Vanderbilt University and Professor David Feldman from UNSW.

Some of Australia’s leading financial analysts and chief economists will take part in a Business Forum to launch the conference.

The forum “Financial Challenges and Opportunities in the Asia Pacific Region” will include presentations from HSBC’s Dr John Edwards, Bill Evans from Westpac; Richard Gibbs from Macquarie Bank; Stephen Halmarick, Citigroup; and Stephen Koukoulas, TD Securities.

The New South Wales Treasurer, the Honourable Michael Costa, will open the conference.
