Leading economists and policy makers will discuss house prices in Australia at a conference hosted by UNSW's Faculty of Business this week.

Other research includes:
- Alternative measures of Labour Underutilisation – Carmit Schwartz and Kevin Fox, UNSW. The authors argue that we need alternative ways to measure unemployment to appropriately take into account the degree to which societies resources are underutilised. The research indicates that if the figures were weighted according to the education and experience of people who are looking for work, Australia would have a comparatively low unemployment rate to the conventional numbers that are currently used. (Wednesday 13th December)
- Extracting the Cycle Component from Australian Multi-Factor Productivity – Lewis Conn, The Australian Bureau of Statistics. This paper looks at the trends in Australia’s productivity growth. (Wednesday 13th December)
- Estimates of Industry Level Multifactor Productivity in Australia: Measurement initiatives and issues – Ian Bobbin, The Australian Bureau of Statistics. This paper looks at productivity, according to the latest ABS figures. (Wednesday 13th December)
- Services productivity growth in Australia, Europe and the US – Robert Inklaar, The University of Groningen (Wednesday 13th December)
