The UNSW Faculty of Engineering and Mirvac have announced the establishment of a new scholarship that aims to encourage high-achieving students to undertake studies in the area of renewable energy.
The Mirvac Undergraduate Engineering Linkage Scholarship will be awarded to a commencing student in 2007 for the Bachelor of Engineering in Renewable Energy Engineering. It is valued at $13,400 per annum for four years.
“We see this scholarship as a way that we can work together to protect our environment, as well as supporting gifted students,” says Professor Brendon Parker, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
Dr Richard Corkish, Head of the School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering, agrees. “I’m excited to see this growing focus on environmental performance in the construction and development industries and especially this strong new link that will bring a two-way flow of ideas and opportunities,” he says.
Students applying for the scholarship will be assessed on the basis of interview performance, academic merit, aptitude and commitment to their preferred program of study and personal qualities.
