Top ranking for MBA

23 October 2006

The Financial Times (UK) 2006 table of Executive MBA programs has placed AGSM as Australia’s leading business school with an international ranking of 23, an improvement of 12 places since 2005. AGSM is the only Australian business school featured in the rankings.

Professor Alec Cameron, Dean of UNSW’s Faculty of Business that incorporates AGSM said: “AGSM’s strong result reinforces the school’s long-held position as a world-class business school. We have achieved the #1 ranking in Australia since the inception of this survey six years ago.

"The ranking is based on a survey of the MBA (Executive) class of 2003. The main driver of the overall ranking score is alumni career success, which accounts for 55 percent of the overall ranking. AGSM alumni achieved an average salary of US$133,768 and an average salary increase of 74 percent three years after graduation.

“The exceptional career success of AGSM’s alumni, the majority of whom remain in Australia, is particularly pleasing because they are competing against alumni who work in the high-paying markets of Europe and the USA.

“AGSM’s rank of 22 in the world for ‘aims achieved’ indicates the high level of alumni satisfaction with the program. It measures the extent to which alumni fulfilled their most important goals or reasons for doing an EMBA.

“The integration of AGSM and UNSW’s Faculty of Commerce and Economics will further enhance the quality of teaching on AGSM’s MBA (Executive) as two strong faculties are combined to take advantage of complementary strengths. We will continue to invest in AGSM’s MBA (Executive) program to ensure that it maintains its pre-eminence,” says Professor Cameron.

The Financial Times ranking of EMBA programs is one of the most prestigious worldwide. It evaluates programs by assessing the career progress of alumni, the school’s research and intellectual outputs, and the diversity and international experience it offers.
