UNSW celebrates Indigenous Week

The culture and history of Australia’s Indigenous people will be recognised at UNSW during a series of celebrations marking Indigenous Week (26- 30 May).
Organised by Nura Gili, UNSW’s Indigenous programs centre, and coinciding with National Reconciliation Week, Indigenous Week will consist of a display of art, performance and music at the Kensington and COFA campuses.
Nura Gili’s Director, Sue Green, believes Indigenous Week 2008 is particularly significant because of the Rudd Government’s recent public apology to the Stolen Generations and their families.
“We still have a long way to go as a nation but this week provides Indigenous and non-Indigenous members of the UNSW community with the opportunity to sit down, look back and celebrate Indigenous resilience and all the successes we have achieved in our shared history,” she says.
UNSW staff and students are warmly invited to attend the celebrations during Indigenous Week. See the schedule of events.
