Division of the DVC (Research) is responsible for driving the strategic research direction and overall research performance of the University, and in particular, maintaining and advancing the University's profile in research and research training, as well as technology transfer.

Graduate Research School provides the full range of services required to support both postgraduate research students and supervisors.

Grants Management Office can assist researchers with advice or support regarding applications and the effective management of research grants. The Ethics Secretariat processes all applications for ethics approval and enquiries relating to research and teaching involving human subjects, human tissue or animals.

Research Strategy Office can assist researchers to identify opportunities for research funding, research prizes and awards, to improve research grant application quality and in providing researcher training & development support.

Excellence in Research for Australia is a dedicated unit established (with similar infrastructure to that of AUQA) to position UNSW for the ERA exercise.

UNSW Analytical Centre houses major instruments (and the technical/professional support) used for the study of the structure and composition of biological, chemical and physical materials.

NewSouth Innovations works with University researchers and commercial partners to ensure that research with commercialisation potential is identified, assessed, protected and commercialised appropriately.
