Research Partnerships with UNSW


The University of New South Wales is one of the most pre-eminent research institutions in Australia with a strong record in grants from the national competitive schemes. The University has consistently performed in the top nationally in Australian Research Council Industry Linkage Grants, and is involved in 15 Federal Government funded Co-operative Research Centres.

Through its technology commercialisation arm, NewSouth Innovations Pty Ltd, much of the University's research findings are being turned into important new products in the marketplace. NSi is, according to a recent analysis, one of the largest patenting organisations in Australia.

UNSW's research strengths span all its disciplines from biomedical research, information technology and materials engineering through to economics, social policy, history and interactive cinema.

Grants Management Office


The principal contact for the sponsorship of research at UNSW is the Grants Management Office.

The Grants Management Office can facilitate all aspects of research administration from grant application, thorough to project completion and can assist researchers and industry partners in all phases of the research process from identifying funding services, making an application for funding, negotiation of research funding contracts and associated agreements, management of the grant, through to completing of the research project and appropriate reporting to the funding agency. The Grants Management Office is also responsible for promoting, attracting and supporting international research funding.



NewSouth Innovations Pty Limited


NewSouth Innovations establishes and develops the rapport with key partners and clients in relevant industry sectors.

Owned by UNSW, NewSouth Innovations has more than 40 years experience in the technology commercialisation arena, ensuring research conducted within the University has a link with industry and business.

NewSouth Innovations promote its vision of commercialising publicly funded research to the academic and business communities.



UNSW Foundation


The UNSW Foundation was established in 1988 as the University's fundraising arm and plays a crucial role in providing a basis for enhancing the lives of students, ensuring the continued excellence of our research, and bringing to fruition the many other aspects of its mission.

Linked to the University by a trust deed, the Foundation's objective is to enhance the financial and reputational capital of the University. The Foundation drives much of the main fundraising activity for UNSW and is active in resourcing vital capital works campaigns including The Scientia, scholarships, faculty projects and research. The UNSW Foundation is a registered charity, CFN 12473. Foundation gifts of $2 or more are tax deductible.
