Goals of the Program
Universitas 21 is a network of international research-intensive universities. Its goals are:
- Sharing of best practice in teaching, research and administration
- Cooperation in developing new teaching and learning technologies
- Mutual recognition of courses and curricula
- Staff and student mobility
- Benchmarking
The goals of the UNSW Universitas 21 Fellowship Program are:
- Provide high-quality development opportunities for UNSW staff members
- Develop and strengthen links between UNSW and the other Universitas 21 member universities
- Gain knowledge about teaching and administrative practices at the other Universitas 21 universities.

Guidelines
Parts of the Program
The UNSW Universitas 21 Fellowship Program has Two Parts:
- Part 1 – for Academic Staff members
- Part 2 – for General Staff members
Up to a total of six Fellowships will be awarded annually, generally three in each part of the Program, depending on the quality of applications received.
Terms and Conditions
The Fellowships are awarded for visits at one or more of the Universitas 21 member universities for a period of up to two months. They provide for economy return airfares and (pro-rata) subsistence up to a total of $A10,000.
Selection Criteria
Part 1 – Academic Staff:
- Quality of proposal to develop novel teaching and learning technologies, modalities and delivery systems
- Demonstration of high level scholarship
- Appropriateness of the chosen host Universitas 21 member university for the proposed project.
Part 2 – General Staff:
- Quality of proposal focusing on best practice in a particular branch of university administration
- Demonstration of high level administrative competency
- Appropriateness of the chosen host Universitas 21 member university for the proposed project
