Andrew Walters<br/>Vice-President, Operations

Andrew Walters is the Vice-President, Operations, at UNSW Sydney, having commenced in August 2015. The Division of Operations includes the portfolios of Finance, UNSW IT, Estate Management, and HR.

Prior to this appointment, Andrew was Chief Financial Officer at Deakin University where he was responsible for the effective management of finance, investments and enterprise projects.

Prior to Deakin, Andrew was the Group Finance Director of a publicly listed holding company with a diverse set of investments and was responsible for restoring profitability and investor confidence. He has extensive experience in the mining industry as Chief Financial Officer of the Botswana operations of diamond mining company DeBeers.

Andrew holds degrees in commerce and accounting and is a member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. He has extensive experience operating on boards of directors both in an executive and non-executive capacity across a large range of businesses. He is currently a UNSW representative director on the UNSW Global Ltd Board.

Jean commenced at UNSW in the Faculty of Medicine in 2017 and most recently lead the Divisions HR team as the Senior HR Business Partner. Jean joined the Division of Operations as Acting Director of Operations in November 2020.

 

Jean’s role is to support the Division to stabilise after extensive change in 2020 as well as to support HR as they transition into the Division of Operations. Jean will provide strategic advice to the Vice-President and will drive the development and implementation of the Division’s strategic and operational plans and projects.

 

Prior to joining UNSW, Jean worked with a number of organisations, predominately in the financial services sector. She has experience across a broad range of initiatives including driving and leading change, talent and succession planning and leadership development. Jean brings a commercial, creative and data-driven approach to solve complex organisational challenges.

 

Jean holds a Master in Human Resources Management and Industrial Relations from the University of Sydney.

Jeff joined UNSW in May 2017 as the Executive Director of Estate Management and in August 2020 he has been appointed Chief Technology & Infrastructure Officer.

 

Jeff has held a variety of roles over the last 25 years with Lend Lease and AMP Capital, with experience predominantly in Australia, but brings considerable knowledge of international markets having worked in Europe for 10 years and exploring opportunities in China and Japan. More recently Jeff has been focussed on mixed use developments in Sydney and has extensive relationships with the NSW Government and local Councils such as the City of Sydney.

 

Jeff holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours (Quantity Surveying)) and a Post Graduate Diploma (Applied Finance & Investment).

Stacey joined UNSW as Chief Financial Officer in March 2019. She had previously been with Deakin University in Melbourne for six years in various senior finance roles including Interim CFO, Director Strategic Finance Initiatives and Director Financial Resources Management. Stacey has more than 16 years’ experience in the Higher Education sector having also worked at the University of South Australia for ten years in finance, operations and marketing positions.

 

Stacey is a Chartered Accountant with extensive financial assurance and audit experience having worked at Ernst & Young and Arthur Andersen. She is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has held a number of directorships on for-profit and not-for-profit boards.

 

Stacey holds a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Australia, along with a Graduate Diploma in Chartered Accounting from the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants.

 

Responsible for Budget and Management Reporting, Financial Control, Financial Operations, Training, Research Finance Services, Procurement, Investments, Faculty Finance Services, Engagement of Contractors.

Deena has been appointed Chief Human Resources Officer in November 2020. She has been a member of HR Leadership Team since joining UNSW in 2015. As Chief HR Officer, Deena has overall responsibility for HR function which includes HR Business Partnering, Employee Relations, Remuneration & HR Services, Recruitment, Culture and Development, and HR Systems.

 

Prior to this appointment, Deena was the Director of People and Culture and in this role drove HR’s transformation journey, working in collaboration with the Vice-President to set the strategic direction for HR and embedding a strong customer service ethos across the team. Deena brings extensive HR and leadership experience to UNSW, and contributes broadly across the University through various committees, programs and initiatives.

 

Deena has almost 20 years’ experience in HR and held previous appointments in senior management roles in the retail and hospitality industry. She has undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications in Psychology and is a member of the Australian Human Resources Institute.

 
Ashley Milosavljevic

Ashley is responsible for supporting the growth of this Division and the successful delivery of the initiatives within this high-profile portfolio. Ashley also ensures engagement across the University on portfolio matters and represents the Division in internal and external forums. The role coordinates the finance, procurement, governance, reporting, customer experience, communications and operational services for the Division.

 

Prior to this role, Ashley held several positions (Unit Manager, Manager Operations and Administration and Acting General Manager) within the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Education Portfolio. Ashley has also worked in UNSW Library and the Graduations Department.

 

Ashley holds a Bachelor in Business and Marketing and a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Event Management. She is a member of the Association for Tertiary Education Management (ATEM) and the Project Management Institute and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) Credential.
