Campus Life and Community Engagement responsibilities

Community Engagement and External Relations

Director - Mark Wright

Engagement and fostering of community relationships with UNSW neighbours such as Randwick Council, NIDA, Randwick LAC, Centennial Parklands and ATC ensuring connectivity and engagement. The management of sponsorship and partnership agreements such as Sculpture By The Sea, Sydney FC, Souths Cares and ATC. Responsible for the development and activation of MoU’s, partnerships and sponsorship agreements and major UNSW contract management.

Early Years @ UNSW

General Manager - Ms Jemma Carlisle

Early Years @ UNSW provides early education services (0-5 years) to families of UNSW staff and students. 
Responsible for: Childcare Master Plan, Honey Pot, House at Pooh Corner, Kanga's House, Tigger's Place, Owl's House.

Health Services

The Health Services provide a quality health service to the students, staff & visitors of UNSW. 

Responsible for: Staff & Student Health, Public Health.

Music, Art and Culture

Director - Sonia Maddock

The Music Art and Culture portfolio is responsible for the production of high quality cultural experiences at UNSW; the professional arm which is focussed on the Australia Ensemble @UNSW, as well as community-based ensembles such as the Collegium Musicum Choir, Burgundian Consort, and the Large Instrumental Music Ensembles (LIME), which include membership spanning the University community.The UNSW Art Collection is a leading collection of Australian art from 1949 to the present and supports the collection through curatorial responsibilities, and manages bequests, donations and commissions as they arise.

Safety & Sustainability

Director - Mr Aaron Magner

Coordinating and promoting environmental management and social responsibility across UNSW. Working with Divisions, Faculties and student groups, to achieve UNSW's sustainability targets and make the University's operations more efficient, environmentally sound and socially responsible. 
Responsible for: Sustainability Strategy, Sustainability Reporting, Environmental Law Register & Compliance, Greenhouse & Carbon Footprinting Reporting, "Green Lab" Training & Compliance Program.

Sport and Recreation (managed by YMCA)

Development Manager - Chris Lewis

YMCA provides quality sport, health and fitness services to UNSW and the wider community. 
Responsible for: Fitness & Aquatic Centre, Recreation Courses, Health & Fitness Programs, Personal Training, Learn to Swim Programs.

Student Accommodation

Director - Mr Ron de Haan (Student Accommodation)

Manages the portfolio of UNSW owned and operated student accommodation; comprising the following:

  • UNSW Colleges - Basser College, Goldstein College and Philip Baxter College, Figtree Hall, Colombo House, UNSW Hall, Goldstein Dining Hall,     Conference programs and casual accommodation.
  • UNSW Apartments - University Terraces, Barker Apartments, Mulwarree Apartments, 46 High St Apartments.
  • Study Abroad Housing - Off and on campus housing specifically for UNSW Study Abroad students.

UNSW Press Limited

UNSW Press publishes around 60 books a year under three imprints, New South, UNSW Press, and Choice. UNSW Press also develops publishing partnerships with a wide variety of institutions, individuals and organisations, where we offer our professional services to produce books on their behalf. 
Responsible for: UNSW Press Publishing, NewSouth Books (a sales, marketing and distribution service), UNSW Bookshop

Venues and Events 

General Manager - Ms Hannah Sparke

Venues and Events provides event support (audio visual, catering and event management) to the UNSW community within venues managed by the department or other areas of the campus. It manages the audio visual, catering and venue support within event venues including a residential business school, CBD based executive education centre, purpose built conference and events centre, and performing arts venues that are used for commercial and internal hire.
Responsible for: Management of events, audio visual and catering within The John Clancy Auditorium, The John Niland Scientia Building, The Science Theatre, UNSW CBD Campus, UNSW Conference and Residential Centre (in the AGSM Building).
