Artist statement

My work focus on lyrical narrative, to explore the psychological aspect of the Tommy character and the historical context of the “Pinball Wizard”, indorsing ideals of love and human fellowship. I worked with charcoal blending with pastels, brush pens’ mark. Visualising Tommy’s traumatic yet hallucinated memories in an abstract way, they are symbiotic in his state of mind and his physical body, the curly lines implicate a form of connection between his consciousness and exaggerated behaviours. The appeal of abstract curly lines and decorative pattern frame the figures in communicating both a feeling of confusion and lingering aesthetics.
