Artist statement

Third Place is a large scale fabric drawing work that uses ink wash on cotton to depict everyday landscapes. It was created using drips, brushes, and soaking techniques with water and black ink on a standard king sized cotton sheet at home. Conceptually, the Third Place is that space that we occupy when we aren't at work or at rest: this work isan exploration of that inbetween state that third places have, and the feelings they conjure in those that navigate them.
