Artist statement
‘Queer Sydney: A History’ is a large scale detailed hand drawn pen drawing, using historic text and visuals to map the history of Sydney’s queer community through time. The drawing was made for Sydney University’s Fisher Library for Worldpride (2023) (the original is permanently displayed there). It moves visually through history in a clockwise motion, from Indigenous origins to present day, making seen a history that has been often unseen, celebrating and memorialising that history.
