We want to create a university where students and staff are safe, supported and respected. To help us do this, UNSW has a new Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Plan.
The Plan includes 81 actions for UNSW, to:
This is about keeping everyone at UNSW safe, every single student and member of staff, across every campus in Australia.
Work has already begun. Over the next two years you will start to notice:
This is about your whole university experience, on campus, online, in accommodation, on placement, and at events.
We will support you wherever GBV happens, including off campus or in your personal life.
This is just the start. UNSW will keep working with students to improve our work in this space. The Student Reference Group is an important part of this, providing ongoing student voice and engagement on GBV issues.
If you have feedback or ideas, we’d love to hear it. Get in touch via safecommunities@unsw.edu.au and keep an eye on this page for future opportunities to get involved.
You can read the Plan in full.
Contact Safer Communities via safecommunities@unsw.edu.au if you have questions or to tell us what you think.
If you’ve been affected by GBV, you’re not alone, and we’re here to support you.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call triple zero (000).
On campus, call UNSW security on 02 9385 6666.
