Everything Is F*cked: A Perspective on the Unf*ckening
We have recently become concerned that a lot of scientific research is fake or wrong. Paper mills, research fraud, replicability, and the glacial response to all of them by universities and publishers should concern everyone in research, everywhere.
So, what can be done? I will argue: quite a lot. There are several immediate actions researchers can take which go towards dramatically improving research culture, some in progress, some inevitable, all realistic.

About the speaker
James Heathers is an affiliated researcher at Linnaeus University. As a physiologist, he develops new methods and techniques for analysing data in the biological and social sciences. James is a self-described data thug, a critic of science, who critically re-evaluates published papers to test their reliability, reproducibility, and robustness. As a meta-scientist, he has not only brought awareness to shoddy research practices and sloppy researchers, he has developed new techniques to probe published results to determine their accuracy. He is the author of a fabulous (and free) meta-science resource and a well-known data sleuth.
