Georgiana Mi

Bachelor of Commerce majoring accounting and finance

UNSW Business School graduate Georgiana Mi’s most important advice from her time at university is to get involved in extra-curricular activities as much as you can.

“UNSW provides you with these great opportunities and you can get involved,” she said.

This includes going on exchangeparticipating in accelerator programs and volunteering. Georgiana said doing so would give you a practical skillset for your future career.

Her Bachelor of Commerce taught her knowledgeable industry concepts and gave her practical knowledge to help her find employment.

“You get as close to practical skillset for your future career seeking.

In her second year Georgiana went on exchange to Babson College in Massachusetts in the United States. The exposure to new experiences was life changing.

UNSW Sydney students can live overseas and study with one of more than 300 partner universities. They can earn credit towards their degree by completing one to three terms abroad.

Georgiana discovered her interests by volunteering and working throughout her degree. Knowing what she was passionate about gave more purpose and significance to her studies.

Georgiana gained hands-on experience as a Market Research Analyst through the Global Trade Accelerator Program.

“(the program) gives you a great opportunity on how to do market research, how to get involved in business planning.”

The Global Trade Accelerator Program is a 2-week real-world business experience, in partnership with Practera and Study NSW. The program connects student teams to undertake research and analysis projects for NSW exporters through a gamified project learning app.

Georgiana emphasised that you get a lot of opportunities and chances when you are a student at UNSW.

“Get out of your comfort zone and do something you are interested in and something you are passionate in.”
