3MT Business heat winners 2020

​UNSW’s Business School’s most exciting doctoral research has been showcased today as 18 students took part in the 3 Minute Thesis heat.

With just three minutes to give a compelling presentation on their thesis topic and its significance, the competition celebrates the diverse research conducted by PhD students and cultivates academic, presentation and research communication skills.

The judges – Professor Fiona Martin, Associate Professor Hauke Wetzel and Professor of Practice Topaz Conway – were impressed with the entrants’ enthusiasm and how well they adapted to the online format.

The winners

• First Place, winning $500 - Fatima Jamal Khan, PhD Candidate School of Economics. Positive Psychology, Human Capital and Wellbeing: Experimental Evidence from Pakistan.
  
• Second Place, winning $250 - Blair Wang, PhD Candidate SISTM. Critical Theory Perspectives on Location-Independent Digital Work and Digital Nomadism.
  
• Third Place, winning $250 - Angtyasti Jiwasiddi, PhD Candidate SISTM. Understanding the relationship between digital nomads and local communities.
  

Blair Wang also won the People's Choice Award, which was decided by the viewing audience tuning in via Zoom.

The finalists will represent the Business School in the UNSW interfaculty final on 15 September.​ ​
