UNSW Business School is to hold a panel discussion on 'Ethics in Finance', featuring senior industry figures, academics and students from both UNSW and other institutions.
UNSW Business School is to hold a panel discussion on 'Ethics in Finance', featuring senior industry figures, academics and students from both UNSW and other institutions, who will explore some of the grey areas where the pressures of the industry may work against good choices.
"This inaugural Young Ambassador event with UNSW Business School and The Banking and Finance Oath encapsulates the very purpose of The Banking & Finance Oath (BFO)" says Cris Parker a BFO Executive. "Invited students will explore challenges around ethics in the industry as the panel shares their experiences."
"We are providing a forum that encourages discussion about ethics and ethical behaviour in the financial services industry. Dr Simon Longstaff will use his wide ranging experience to describe the dilemmas many workers in finance face. However, as he says, in a competitive environment, the one thing that you can't compete on is ethics."
The panel will consist of:
Simon Longstaff - Moderator, and director of The Ethics Centre for 25 years.
Mr John Andrews - Business Transformation Analyst at AMP Capital and BFO Young Ambassador
Kingsley Fong - Associate Head of the School of Banking and Finance at UNSW Business School, and Program Director of the Master of Financial Planning.
John Laker – Chair of the Banking & Finance Oath. Formerly Chairman Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA).
Joyce Phillips – Group Executive, Wealth, Marketing and Innovation at ANZ.
Dennis Gentilin – Formerly at NAB, he has written a book to help leaders build ethical corporate cultures.
To promote a strong ethical foundation for the banking and finance industry, the BFO Young Ambassadors Program was launched in August, selecting top young elite candidates to represent future leaders in fostering a positive culture in the finance industry.
"The Young Ambassador Program will allow students to harness the full potential of the BFO in imbuing ethics and integrity in the industry from the ground level up," says Cris Parker.
The BFO is an online initiative founded by Industry leaders and affiliated with The Ethics Centre. The Oath contains a set of commitments that individuals can adopt and apply as personal principles in their work.
The Banking & Finance Oath panel discussion on 'Ethics in Finance" will take place on the 27th April 2016 at 6pm.
