Keri Pratt, Chair of Women in Super (WIS) NSW has announced the 2015 winners of the inaugural 2015 WIS – AGSM @ UNSW Business School scholarship program. The scholarship program is designed to enhance and support women’s leadership skills and encourage more women to pursue roles in senior management within the industry, which aligns with the objectives of Women in Super.

AGSM had initially agreed to provide two scholarships for executive short courses for WIS members but were so impressed with the quality of the candidates they increased the number to four.

The announcement was made at the recent Women in Super luncheon event in Sydney, where guest speaker Anne Marie Corboy, recently retired CEO of HESTA, shared her experiences of working in the superannuation industry and lessons learned, which were particularly relevant to today’s leadership challenges in a rapidly changing environment.

Frank Kennedy, Executive Director AGSM Executive Education presented the awards to the recipients and said AGSM is thrilled to provide the four scholarships in support of aspiring female leaders in the superannuation and finance industries.

“Executive level training for these WIS members will enhance their business acumen and allow them to thrive in leadership roles, as well as broaden their personal and professional networks through the AGSM community,” said Frank.

Winners will attend one of the following AGSM courses: ‘The Authentic Communicator’, ‘Developing Effective Negotiation Skills’, ‘Leading from Within’, or ‘Developing the Strategic Manager’. These short courses will provide participants with tools and strategies to build new skills and enhance career development.

“WIS NSW is pleased to be providing our high calibre recipients with the opportunity to pursue their professional and personal development through the WIS - AGSM scholarship program,” said Megan Pham, WIS NSW Committee member and Scholarship Sub-Committee Chair.

Recipients of the scholarship this year were:
Alexandra McGuigan, Business Development Manager, Shed Enterprises
Victoria Rati, Portfolio Manager, International and Emerging Market Equities, State Super
Heather Gyton Carroll, Head of Marketing, Perpetual Investments
Melinda McMullan, Employer Partnership Manager, Unisuper

Women in Super look forward to supporting this year’s winners and to continuing the relationship established with AGSM.
