Overview

The Institute of Global Finance (IGF) is housed at Australia's leading Business School at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. The UNSW Business School is one of the top 5 in the Asia Pacific region.

The School of Banking and Finance at UNSW which plays host to the IGF, is amongst the top 15 Banking and Finance Schools in the world in terms of journal publications.

The IGF works with NYU Stern Business School’s Volatility and Risk Institute and focuses on global financial stability, banks’ systemic risk and financial institutions. The IGF also works with reputed finance and business organisations including PwC, KPMG and BlackRock.

The IGF undertakes cutting edge research with policy applications for the finance industry and policymakers with global institutions such as the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank. A strategic objective of the IGF is the promotion of global prosperity, reliable and effective global governance. The work of the IGF studies and analyses the importance of trust, transparency, universal participation, the interdependence of individuals, companies, financial markets and national and international policymakers.

Vision

The IGF’s vision and strategic objectives are: 

  • To be engaged in global and regional issues that directly and indirectly affect global financial stability and global prosperity. 
  • Serve as a leading finance advisory body 
  • To produce high-quality research that benefits the finance industry and policymakers.
  • To create world-class policy and business events to raise public awareness about emerging opportunities which contribute to an increase in global financial stability and prosperity.

Organisational structure and governance

The IGF is underpinned by a Steering Committee made up of industry experts who meet three times a year. The IGF is also supported by International Collaborators and Advisors, and Regional Collaborators and Advisors
