Dr Dipan Kundu
Dr Kundu is the team leader of the Electrochemical Energy Storage Laboratory.
He obtained his bachelor’s degree (Chemistry Honours) from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira (Calcutta University). He completed three years M.S. (Integrated PhD program, Chemical Sciences) from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore, India. Dr Kundu received his PhD, working with Prof. Reinhard Nesper at ETH Zurich in Switzerland and spent nearly four years as a postdoc with Prof. Linda F. Nazar at the University of Waterloo.
In 2016, he was briefly involved with Salient Energy, a spinoff out of his postdoctoral research. Before joining UNSW, he was a group leader at the Department of Materials at ETH Zurich through the Swiss National Science Foundation Ambizione Grant.
Christian studied Chemistry at ETH Zurich and completed his Bachelor in 2015. He continued and finished his master studies in chemistry in 2017 with his thesis in the group of Prof. Jennifer Rupp (ETH). During his studies he spent time at Paul-Scherrer-Institute in the Electrochemistry Laboratory and at the Korean Institute of Energy Research in the Fuel Cell Laboratory.
His research interests cover polymeric and inorganic solid electrolytes for all-solid-state Li-and Na-batteries. Christian joined Dipan for PhD at ETH Zurich in July 2017 and continues to work there under Dipan's supervision.
Linda studied Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and graduated in 2016 with a Master of Science in Chemistry. Linda is a doctoral student in the Laboratory for Multifunctional Materials (with Professor Markus Niederberger) at ETH Zurich.
Linda is working with Dr Dipan Kundu on in-situ TEM investigation of zinc electrodeposition and ways to prolong the zinc metal cyclability in aqueous zinc batteries.
