Using advances in computing to optimise and automate the exploration workflow, we can reduce costs and improve the exploration of oil and gas resources and associated risk evaluation. We work closely with our local and international partners on projects that are making a real impact in the industry.

Uncertainty Evaluation in Frontier Exploration

  • Generating paleogeographic and paleotopographic reconstructions based on limited data available in frontier exploration regions
  • Uncertainty estimation through the exploration value chain with Bayesian analysis
  • Maturation and migration analysis in frontier basins based on integrated basin analysis
  • Automated interpretation of seismic images to construct geological structures using machine learning

Recent Research Projects

  • Paleotopography and frontier basin exploration in the Barents Sea
  • Dynamic uplift and tilting of the North West Shelf, Australia
  • Automated interpretation of complex seismic datasets from the environmentally sensitive Barents Sea region in the Arctic

Successful Applications

  • Complex passive margins with transpressional/transtensional tectonics
  • Fractured and weathered basement
  • Carbonate reservoirs with heterogeneous reservoir properties
