Thermal meta-structure is an assembly of two or more materials with different thermal conductivities, designed to have extraordinary heat conduction performance, e.g. create an extremely high heat flux concentration, a thermal cloak, or an illusion. Such structures are used to harvest thermal energy, to protect electronics from overheating or to hide an object on a heat map. We have a numerical model paired with an optimisation algorithm, which enables design of such meta-structures for various objectives. The aim of the project is to test the framework in various scenarios and create designs with extreme performance.
